About *Victoria Park

- Victoria Park or “Vicky Park” as it's known locally, is London's oldest public park and an award-winning vast East London open space partially framed by the much-loved canals. It measures 213 acres filled with trees, gardens lakes and fields and is used as a concert venue and hosts many festivals each year.
- Victoria Park was created after Queen Victoria decreed that there needed to be an open green space for the enjoyment of the people of the East End of London, and the park was named in her honour.
- The construction work was carried out in just two years, using labour from the shipyards during a time of depression.
- Victoria Park opened in 1845, “The People's Park” has a long and rich history spanning over 170 years.
- The site was extended in 1872 when land originally set aside for residential development was incorporated into the park.
- In addition to Victoria Park, nearby Well Street Common is another popular open green space loved by the Victoria Park Village community, a plane tree framed common with gardens and playgrounds and a perfect local open-air stage for hosting various events.

*Victoria Park Village -
London, Best Places to Live 2020 and 2022 By Sunday Times

- Victoria Park Village is a delightful ‘village’ area situated next to Victoria Park.
- This is the nearest village area to the London 2012 Olympic Park and Village.
- Victorian and Edwardian terraces dominate the townscape here and there are various 20th-century ‘infill’ developments too. So, the overall feel is: ‘quite removed from London’.
- The leafy main roads are quiet and are dotted with distinctive Victorian and Edwardian village shops including butchers, fishmongers, bakers, greengrocers, chip shops and a specialist wine shop. And there is the Victoria Park Market every Sunday!
-There are designer boutiques, specialist interior shops, cafes, pottery and gift shops, hair and beauty salons, pubs, bars and restaurants. Their close proximity to the park gives the feeling of a true East London Village.
- In terms of property and housing, the Village is a hotspot for contemporary ‘Don’t Move, Improve!’ projects giving a new lease of life to many period structures often with added, superbly executed extensions worth featuring in the respected Dezeen magazine. Architects love the challenge of designing in the vicinity of Victoria Park. Although small in scale, the new projects here often exceed in quality and sustainability and are celebrated as exciting creative additions to the area.

  •  Victoria Park has been named among the best places to live in London in a prestigious annual guide. The Sunday Times Best Places to Live 2022 features six areas of London, chosen based on a range of factors from schools, transport and broadband to culture, green spaces and the health of the high street.
